Rambert presents one of its biggest ever musical ventures at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, May 22-26. I shall be conducting an expanded Rambert Orchestra in a fabulous programme of Lutoslawski: the Fourth Symphony, Interlude for Orchestra, Musique Funebre, and Chain II (with violin soloist Charles Mutter). This will support a new dance version of Life is a Dream by Kim Brandstrup, with design by the Brothers Quay.
Rambert’s performance of Haydn’s The Creation, with Sarah Tynan, James Gilchrist, Neal Davies, Rambert Orchestra and the BBC Singers, and the dancers of Rambert and the Rambert School is now available free to view here
Two CDs came out last year to great reviews: Stolen Rhythm, music by Cheryl Frances-Hoad with cellist David Cohen and oboist Nicholas Daniel and Rambert Orchestra on Champs Hill. Flux, a CD of music by Rambert Music Fellows Gavin Higgins, Mark Bowden, Kate Whitley, Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Quinta, is on NMC Records.
I had a great time over Easter with Scottish Ballet conducting Sir Matthew Bourne’s Highland Fling in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
